Madarao Ski Resort Opening Dates 2018/19 We won’t keep you in suspense – Tangram and Madarao Kogen both open on Saturday, December 15th 2018 Myoko Ski Resort Opening Dates 2018/19 Akakura Onsen opens on December 8th. This is an early start again. They must be confident in the medium term forecast! The always popular Akakura Kanko Resort (aka Akakan) is next in line with lifts that will start turning on December 14th. Can we use a drone in Japan? Drone Japanese ski resorts: A question we get asked reasonably often is, “Can we use a drone in Japan?”, or “Can I use a drone Japanese ski resorts?”. Well, the answer is Yes and No. Drones are absolutely legal to fly in Japan – you actually don’t need any sort of certification or license to fly a drone. Theoretically one can simply bring your drone to Japan and fly it, as long as you’re in a safe fly zone. However there are laws recently passed to make it safer and more straightforward for everyone. You can’t fly near airports, and you can’t fly in densely populated areas. No flying over power lines and trains, or in public parks. As Japan’s world-class tree skiing attracts growing numbers of international riders each year, the progressive approach by Madarao Ski Resort to fun inbounds terrain has set it apart from other Japanese resorts and made it a favourite with visitors and local freeriders. We caught up with Aki Kitamura, Madarao Ski Resort’s former sales manager and resident gun skier, to find out what’s been going on.
